Lecterns are reading desks with a slanted top. The word Lectern comes from the word Lectus meaning "to read". Lecterns are usually used by someone who is making a speech or talking in front of a big crowd or audience. Lecterns are usually where books and other reading materials are placed along with other Lectern Accessories and along with that, PA systems are used.

There are different kinds of Lecterns, usually based on what they are made of. There are Plastic Lecterns, Wooden Lecterns and Acrylic Lecterns. Plastic Lecterns are of the same shape as a normal Lectern, except that they are made of plastic. Plastic Lecterns are practical to use for they are light weight, durable and attractive. Aside from that, Plastic Lecterns are stylish and look more modern than most designs because plastic lecterns come in various colors and some may even be transparent.

Wooden Lecterns on the other hand are the most widely used type. Wooden Lecterns are mostly used in almost all formal gatherings and formal presentations. Wooden Lecterns are still the most preferred type to be used in almost every institution.

Acrylic Lecterns are different from plastic lecterns. Acrylic Lecterns are much more transparent-looking and more modernized, even when compared to a plastic lectern. Acrylic Lecterns are made of Acrylic, a substance which is quite similar to glass but is more superior to glass in so many ways, thus it is even more superior to plastic. The advantage of using an Acrylic Lecterns is that the speaker will not have a hard time looking at their notes or a teleprompter.

On the other hand, lights are essential because they help the presenter read their notes.
